Getting Laser Hair Removal at 15

Question: Would you get your 15-year-old daughter a laser hair removal? My daughter is actually having some hair on her upper lip and it has been the cause of her very low self-esteem. She is being bullied by the other students in her school. And it hurts me to see her so sad and lonely whenever she comes home from school. I’m actually thinking of getting her a Tria laser hair removal system. Cost aside, would you have a problem with your daughter having this done on her face at such a young age? Or would you make her wait until she gets a little older?

Answer: I personally think it’s a waste of money to get it until she grows fully mature. Because she’s still in her puberty stage, all of her hair has not grown in yet. Plus the fact that at this stage, she is undergoing hormonal changes reason why she has fast hair growth or she may be suffering from acne breakouts. I am sure that she will appreciate laser hair removal better when she is 18. So she should really wait. I would even say she has to wait until she turns 20.

With laser hair removal, it’s going to be a heft sum of dollars spent if you don’t even know how much hair you are going to deal with. Usually, it takes about 4-8 treatments for laser hair removal to be satisfactory. And if you haven’t had all of your hair grow in yet, you could be looking at even more treatments than that. Also, it is very painful so I am sure that she is not going to want to go through for more than 8 times. Instead, there are other hair removal products your daughter could try out such as waxing or sugaring. These are fairly cheap methods that can last up to 4-6 weeks.
